This person will be a part of the Senior Team at client company and will be a key player in building non-advertising revenue streams and growing sell side usage in key categories – both via offline efforts and product innovations. S/he will work closely with VP Monetization to execute the business’s overall strategy to grow the number of small businesses using our platform as well as convert them to paid customers. The person will also be responsible for supporting product development around monetization. Key Areas • Monetisation: Manage the launch of individual revenue streams, gather learnings from initial launch to make modifications as necessary, and then help scale them amongst small businesses and across cities. Here are the key areas: o Listing fees: Determine pricing, test format, scale the revenue stream by drawing on learnings within and outside the team o Mobile leads: Test and finalize a channel format that delivers leads to small businesses on mobile phones, determine pricing, scale the channel o Revenues driven via partnerships and alliances: Identify opportunities to partner with other businesses to drive user base / abundance (digital media, traditional media, others) o Payments channel: Manage online and offline payments infrastructure in partnership with other team members, ensure smooth operations of the channel as part of growing revenues
• Category Development: Help grow supply onsite in key classifieds categories, as identified while working closely with the rest of the team o Category Management: Analyze usage on platform and external learning to identify high potential categories and develop / build new categories o Increase seller base: Create plan to tap organic and inorganic sellers. Ideate and plan offline seller promotions, develop online and offline partnerships to drive seller base and abundance of ads. Work closely with Marketing to drive online promotions o Increase usage: Build word-of-mouth amongst industry associations. Grow usage by educating sellers as well as aiding them (eg, by scaling the Listing Assistants program that can help them in uploading listings), design and execute promotions and programs for sellers segments such as top sellers and Hi Po Sellers, organize Seller Meets and build relationships with important sellers
• Product: Support product development in monetization related areas o Identify opportunities: Identify offerings and features that will encourage sellers to use us more, determine how to provide value through product that sellers would be willing to pay for o Translate opportunities into business requirements: Prioritize opportunities and then develop business requirements that are actionable from the technology team’s perspective o Drive usage: Closely work with marketing team as well as through offline channels to drive the usage of these offerings by sellers
Experience & Education
• At least 6-10 years of proven experience in Internet, other media • MBA from a premier business school • Candidates who have experience in managing small teams with revenue goals preferred • Experience will small businesses in the B2C environment would be a plus
